The organizers of the World Advanced Glider Aerobatic Championships and European Glider Aerobatic Championships report that 66 pilots are expected to participate in the event. The two events, being held in conjunction with each other in Jami, Finland, opens on Saturday, the 17th of July. This will be the first FAI Glider Aerobatic Championships ever held in the Advanced category -- a new competition recently added to CIVA's calendar of events. The European Championships will feature glider pilots in the Unlimited category. Both are being held together to save cost. Jami is the home of Finnish glider flying. The Championships will be headed by Contest Director Kari Kemppi. Chief Judge is Philippe Kuechler of Switzerland. President of the International Jury is Mike Heuer of the USA. President Heuer will be blogging from the event. These blogs will appear on his "President's Page" on this website.
