Without a doubt, the Canopy Piloting event at The World
Games 2013 in Cali, Colombia, was highly popular and
brought the event to the public in a most attractive
and dynamic way. All available tickets were sold and a
enthusiastic audience prompted by a very competent
commentator clapped and cheered its way through an
exciting competition. It was conducted in close proximity
to the grandstand. This success demonstrated the
attraction and entertainment of Parachuting, which
augurs well for the future IPETA Canopy Piloting Tour.
It also confirmed the pertinence of the Commission’s
strategy to improve the presentation of the sport for
the media, besides exploring the sport’s marketing
potential whilst continuing to assume the role as a central
disseminator of information on safety procedures and
equipment in sport parachuting.
