Combat Model Aircraft
LINE CONTROL
F2D Combat Model Aircraft competitors took
centre stage at the Games. The heats and final
were flown in front of hundreds of spectators
at the Palm Dropzone, winning the discipline
many new fans. Competitors fly their control-
line model planes at 160km/h and aim to
slice off sections of rivals’ tail streamers to
score points. Models are delicate, and with
their fiercely spinning propellors emit a high-
pitched whir as they fly.
