EYES ON THE PRIZE

Lis Adriana from Indonesia watches closely.

The tension built slowly over 12 rounds in

Paragliding Accuracy, but by the final, pilots

and spectators were on the edge of their seats.

HIT THE MARK

The ultimate achievement in the discipline is

achieving a ‘DC’ (dead centre), hitting the 2cm

diameter centre spot. In this competition,

there were only 11 DCs scored in more than

220 flights.

TOUCHDOWN

Pilots are towed up and release when they

decide. Assessing wind direction and strength

is key, as is fine control of the glider. Here,

bronze medallist Goran Djurkovic gets close to

dead centre.
