The 2014 FAI Awards Ceremony took place on 17 October

in Pattaya, Thailand, as part of the 108th FAI General

Conference, hosted by the Royal Aeronautic Sports

Association of Thailand (RASAT).

Awardees, including the FAI Gold Air Medal recipient

Bill Moyes, were present to receive their Medals and

Diplomas from the hands of FAI President Dr. John

Grubbström.

Recipientswerehonouredwitheither FAI General Awards

or FAI Awards for Individual Disciplines. Additionally,

one FAI-Breitling Award was attributed for the year

2014. The ceremony was also graced by the presence

of French Aerobatics Champion Aude Lemordant and

of Monika Pieren from Breitling.

FAI Gold Air Medal

This medal is the FAI’s highest award, alongside the

Gold Space Medal. It is reserved for those who have

contributed greatly to the development of aeronautics

by their activities, work, achievements, initiative or

devotion to the cause of Aviation.

AWARDEE: Bill Moyes (AUS)

For his great contribution to the development of aero­

nautics by changing Hang Gliding from a recreational

activity intoan internationally recognisedsport through

his impressiveachievementsasapilot andhissuccessful

career as a world-leading hang glider manufacturer.
