The Swooping Pond at the Palm Dropzone is
the largest in the world.
EXPERIENCE MATTERS
To become an expert Canopy Piloting
parachutist, a competent skydiver must
typically have at least 1,000 jumps and start
a 1-2 year training process to compete. Top
level competitors will have been training
for four years and have 10,000 jumps. Curt
Bartholemew (USA) won gold medals in
Accuracy and Combined at the Games. He is
pictured with his wife Jeannie, also an expert
Canopy Pilot.
STYLE POINTS
In Freestyle competition parachutists aim to
impress judges with set-piece and improvised
moves to win style points from the panel of five
judges.
