“The Royal Netherlands Aeronautical Association

(KNVvL) was originally founded to accommodate the first

balloon flights in the Netherlands. At present, we have

a thriving civil and military aviation sector, as well as a

strong section of general aviation and air sports which

consists of about 25,000 pilots and skydivers.

Furthemore, KNVvL is a knowledge centre for aviation,

with a large group of people engaged in scientific research

related to aviation or plane spotting.

KNVvl alsoadvocatesactively thesustainabledevelopment

of general aviation in the Netherlands and participates

in discussions about trends and regulation to keep space

available for aviation.”

On 26 September 2014, the Handflight NL project was

launched at the Nijmeegse AeroClub, with the aim of

making air sports and recreational flying available for

physically disabled people.

Through fundraising, Handflight NL wants to modify

gliders and enable personswith a lower limb disability to

accessflight trainings. Theultimate goal is for themto get
