Table of Contents“The Royal Netherlands Aeronautical Association
(KNVvL) was originally founded to accommodate the first
balloon flights in the Netherlands. At present, we have
a thriving civil and military aviation sector, as well as a
strong section of general aviation and air sports which
consists of about 25,000 pilots and skydivers.
Furthemore, KNVvL is a knowledge centre for aviation,
with a large group of people engaged in scientific research
related to aviation or plane spotting.
KNVvl alsoadvocatesactively thesustainabledevelopment
of general aviation in the Netherlands and participates
in discussions about trends and regulation to keep space
available for aviation.”

On 26 September 2014, the Handflight NL project was
launched at the Nijmeegse AeroClub, with the aim of
making air sports and recreational flying available for
physically disabled people.
Through fundraising, Handflight NL wants to modify
gliders and enable personswith a lower limb disability to
accessflight trainings. Theultimate goal is for themto get
their glider pilot license and fly solo. The Ambassador of
HaadflightNL isRobinAmmerlaan, a formerworldnumber
one wheelchair tennis player from the Netherlands.
The first Handflight day was a big success and will be
repeated in 2015.
