Not only has he been in orbit four times, but for the last seven years he has been at the head of NASA. Congratulations from Space for the FAI Komarov Diploma!“I am absolutely delighted for Scott and Mikhail to receive that very well deserved honour.” Live from the International Space Station (ISS), the British Astronaut Tim Peake congratulated Scott Kelly (USA) and Mikhail Kornienko (RUS) on being awarded the FAI Komarov Diploma. Certainly a unique occasion to acknowledge his fellow crewmates! Peake’s congratulations came right after FAI’s Astronautic Records Commission (ICARE) President, Anu Ojha OBE, announced the attribution of the award during a live call with the astronaut from UK’s National Space Centre.

FAI medals and diplomas aim at giving public recognition to those who have made outstanding contributions to aeronautics and astronautics, especially in the field of sporting aviation. They are awarded each year at the Opening Ceremony of the annual FAI General Conference.
