FAI Ballooning Commission 2016 Annual Meeting - Main Decisions and Discussions

The 2016 Plenary Meeting of the FAI Ballooning Commission (CIA) was held from 18 – 19 March 2016 in Cala Millor, Mallorca Island, Spain.

Please find below the main decisions and discussions during the meeting:

Discussions

• The Commission discussed about the FAI World Air Games 2015 in Dubai, UAE.
• The new FAI Organiser Agreement (OA) has been introduced and will now be implemented.
• The CIA Commission has supported the projects of Youth Camps financially and will continue to do so for the 16th International Youth Camp 2016 in Balleroy, France and the Youth Camp activities 2016 in the USA.
• The 60th edition of the Coupe Aéronautique Gordon Bennett in Gladbeck, Germany will have the highest level of attendance since its re-start in 1983. The Local Organising Committee (LOC) of Fribourg, which will organize the 61th edition in 2017, presented the project in Gruyères, Switzerland.

Awards

• The 2016 Montgolfiere Ballooning Diploma has been awarded to Troy BRADLEY (USA) & Leonid TIUKHTYAEV (RUS) for best performance in gas ballooning and Mathijs DE BRUIJN (NED) for his major contribution to the development of the sport.
