First Unknown Completed at AWAC

The first Unknown compulsory flight programme was completed this evening in Ljungbyhed. Glen Dell of South Africa captured the gold medal in the flight with an outstanding 82.05%. He was closely followed by Gerard Bichet of France with 81.00% and Anatoly Belov of Russia with 79.79%. Combined totals from the Free and Unknown programme now place Dell in first place in the event followed by Bichet and Tomo Poljanec of Slovenia. Flying was halted this evening due to the CIVA Regulations which require 6 hours of rest between Unknown flights for pilots. Several of the pilots who would have begun the Second Unknown tonight, had flying continued, would have been affected by this rule, making it difficult to construct an order of flight. The organisers plan to continue tomorrow with the Second Unknown flying the top 30 pilots in the competition. Once these pilots are flown, if sufficient time exists, all pilots will be flown in rank order until time runs out. The 2nd Unknown is shown here.
