The FAI Environmental Commission (EnvC) has established the Angelo d’Arrigo Diploma, a new FAI environmental award which aims at recognising and promoting major contributions in the field of environmental and sustainable development, in accordance with the development of a philosophy and a vision of sport aviation that increasingly wants to be respectful of the environment that surrounds it. The FAI and Breitling are pleased to announce the FAI World Championships events selected for full Breitling branding and support for 2014. This year the focus is on a smaller number of events and an increased emphasis on supporting the events and creating a great image of these events which will benefit the events themselves, the FAI and Breitling. Today is the 7th flying day at the 16th FAI World Glider Aerobatic Championships and 4th FAI World Advanced Glider Aerobatic Championships. There is one pilot left to fly to have the first Known Compulsory for both categories completed. The forecast for today is better and the Organisers aim to have all 59 pilots to fly their free. Mikhail Mamistov of Russia has captured the title of European Aerobatic Champion in Unlimited Power at the European Aerobatic Championships just concluded in Dubnica nad Vahom, Slovakia. The Championships' classical programmes concluded on Friday, the 7th of September, with the Final Freestyle flown on Saturday, 8 September. This is the latest in a string of victories for Mamistov who currently holds the title of World Aerobatic Champion and winner of the Aresti Cup in Foligno, Italy in 2011. He flew the Sukhoi SU-26M3 to victory. He took second place in the EAC in 2010 and first in 2008. He is also a member of CIVA's Judging Sub-Committee and the FairPlay System Working Group. Following him in second place was Francois Levot of France flying an Extra 330SC and in third, Olivier Masurel of France in a CAP 232. In the Team Championships, France took the Gold Medal with Russia and Germany in second and third, respectively. Full results can be found at www.civa-results.com. |
