The FAI has today announced the creation of two awards bearing the name of Breitling, the Global Sponsor of the FAI since 2012: The Breitling Milestone Trophy and the Breitling Youngster Award. Coming from all around the world, contributors to aviation were celebrated at the annual FAI Awards Ceremony that took place last night in Antalya, Turkey, as part of the 106th FAI General Conference. Ten awardees joined together in Antalya to be presented on stage with their prestigious FAI medals and diplomas by FAI President John Grubbström. During the ceremony, the winner of the prize of the Prince Alvaro de Orleans Borbon Grant was revealed to be Todd Reichert for the "Atlas" human-powered helicoter project. Two new awards were also announced by Breitling, the official partner of the FAI:

At the 2012 FAI Awards Ceremony held yesterday in Antalya, Turkey, John Dickenson was presented with the FAI Gold Air Medal by FAI President John Grubbström for his great contribution to the development of aeronautics by inventing the modern hang glider. The FAI Gold Air Medal is the one of the two most prestigious FAI Awards together with the Gold Space Medal. It is reserved for those who have contributed greatly to the development of aeronautics by their activities, work, achievements, initiative or devotion to the cause of Aviation. The closing ceremony of the 105th FAI General Conference saw three personalities recognised for their achievements and dedication to air sports, with the awarding of the FAI Gold Air Medal by FAI President John Grubbström to British balloonist David Hempleman-Adams and the appointments as FAI Companions of Honour of Willy Arpagaus and Henk Meertens.
