The World final of the FAI Sailplane Grand Prix to be held at Sisteron in the south of France will start with a warm up race and opening ceremony on the 8th of May and the first race will follow on the 9th.

2014 FAI Young Artists Contest winners revealed

Youngsters from China, Japan, Mongolia, Nepal, Russia, Turkey, Ukraine and USA are among the winners of the 2014 FAI Young Artists Contest, which every year awards FAI Medals and Diplomas to artists in three age categories from 6 to 17 years old.

Competition was fierce, not only because of the quality of the artworks, but also due to the significant rise in participation: the number of FAI Members taking part in the contest soared from 14 in 2013 to 21 in 2014 with the involvement Bulgaria, Canada, China, Czech Republic, France, Finland, India, Italy, Japan, Libya, Lithuania, Mongolia, Nepal, Poland, Qatar, Russia, Serbia, Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine and USA.

Gliding in The World Games

The Aero Club of Poland is very active in promoting the idea of "olympic gliding". The Polish foundation "Smyki na start" whose main goal is promoting engineering and technology among youngsters together with Aero Club of Poland and Warsaw University of Technology are co-operting in order to convince the organisers of the IWG in Wroclaw to include gliding in the World games.

Final list of venues for 6th FAI Sailplane Grand Prix series

The period for acceptance of bids to hold a qualifying FAI Sailplane Grand Prix expired on the 31st of December 2013. The last qualifying event to be approved is in the Czech Republic at Frydland which will be held in May 2015 in the Club class.

Zar event completes 5th Grand Prix series

The 5^th Sailplane Grand Prix series was completed in July this year with the successful event at Zar in Poland, all the results and news of the events can be seen on the new Sailplane Grand Prix web site at www.sgp.aero.

The new SGP web site has been developed during the last SGP series and all future events can be found on this site. The SGP team is now turning its full attention to the 5^th SGP final to be held at Sisteron in France in May 2014 a full list of the qualifying pilots can be found on the SGP web site.

The FAI Sailplane Grand Prix qualifying competitions for the 6th FAI SGP series will be held between the 1st of June 2014 and the 31st of May 2015and the 6th FAI World Sailplane Grand Prix final will be held in the latter half of 2015.

Clubs, host cities or regions interested in holding a qualifying FAI Sailplane Grand Prix and requiring more information should contact info@sgp.aero for the bid forms and conditions.

Applications to host an event for the 6th series should be submitted to the IGC at roland@sgp.aero by the 31st of October 2014.
