Dubai Test Competition, Speed Skydiving
Wednesday, 24 October 2012 12:55
If you are organising the largest Skydiving event ever, why not add yet another competition? The Dubai organisation, in conjunction with the FAI/IPC and the ISSA (International Speed Skydiving Association) have decided to add to the six World Championships* already scheduled for the “Mondial”, Dubai 28 Nov – 9 Dec 2012, and the Demonstration Event**, a Test Competition for Speed Skydiving. This exciting new competitive discipline will be carried out by 10 experienced skydivers, including the current ISSA World Champion, Mr. Marco Wiederkehr. Each competitor has 3 jumps during which they will try to record the fastest speed they can over 1,000 m. By using electronic measuring devices fitted to each competitor the speed attained during their descent from 4,000 m over the fixed 1,000 m distance between 2,700 m and 1,700 m will be recorded and give us the performance ranking. The following text is taken from the Organiser's Web Site - but it is very IMPORTANT to all competition Videographers.
The IPC competition rules require for Video Transmission and Recording, that ALL video equipment MUST deliver a PAL (format) digital video signal (High Definition HD 1080i AVCHD) through a compatible video connection. Any other digital video equipment not using the PAL standard (i.e. NTSC and others) DOES NOT meet this reqirement. It is the responsibility of the VIDEOGRAPHER to ENSURE the compatibility of the freefall video equipment with the scoring system. The Video Controller does not have the power to grant exceptions. Non-commpliance with this rule will lead to the situation, that the performance on video cannot be processed and is not accepted for judging and scoring because of non-compliance with the IPC-rules. 10th EC & 11th WC Artistic Events, 13th EC & 20th WC in Formation Skydiving, & 1st EC & 2nd WC in Speed Skydiving Teuge, September 2015 Delegation Romania

EC & WC Prostejov 2012 - Award Ceremony
Monday, 03 September 2012 17:28
Follow the link for all Official Results and Videos - RESULTS Friday 31st August The Award Ceremony got underway with a huge sense of fun and friendliness - both of which have been the abiding impression of this World Meet - those who made the effort to enter and be there had a great time, new friendships were made and old ones cemented. The organisers had provided the competitors with a room full of baloons! for the closing ceremony. The speeches were kept short and thanks were paid by all to the organisers, their staff and volunteer workers who made sure all ran smoothly. Thanks were also given to Ted Wagner of OmniSkore!HD for his judging system - the judges really appreciated the high quality of image they had - there can be no going back. Neils-Christian Leven Hansen, FAI Controller, thanked everyone, but most of all the competitors, without whom there would be no competition. Before the medal giving ceremony for each event we were treated to a short video of the medal winners performance, which impressed the dignatories present and really set the scene. CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL THE MEDAL WINNERS - AND TO ALL WHO COMPETED IN PROSTEJOV 2012.

After the prize-giving was over, a special presentation was made by the Meet Director, Martin Dlouhy, on behalf of the Town and Drop Zone Prostejov, to the other team from BELGIUM, Thunder - who had entered the competition without understanding the rules properly and so had to withdraw (see article on Why you should Read the Rules). They had achieved a points score of 199 at the point of withdrawal and their scores are posted as a Guest Team. Then the party began, and continued through the night (for some competitors). My thanks to Fay Kimble for her hard work in helping put these reports and pictures together and to Petr Podrouzek for his Videos - (follow the link at the top of the page - or here or on our dedicated Video's page) - to Ted Wagner of OmniSkore!HD for providing us with an instantly updated results service and to both the Chief Judges, Karla Cole and Aliya Ananina for their help and support.
