Pooleys Dawn to Dusk Challenge 2016


2016 10_31_Dawn_to_Dusk_Challenge_copyOne of the oldest pilots to hold an FAI Sporting Licence is Flt Lt Russell "Rusty" Waughman AFC, DFC, Legion D'Honneur of 101 (Special Duties) Squadron of the Royal Air Force. At 93 years of age, Rusty has just completed the unique aviation challenge of the Pooleys Dawn to Dusk Challenge 2016. He flew with UK CIG delegate David Monks in David's Robinson R22 helicopter, G-ZAPY.

Ten Years Ago Today: Steve Fossett set a gliding world record by flying to above 15,000m

USA Tops the Final Medal Table of the FAI World Air Games

FAI Medal - Small ImageThe United States has finished at the top of the medal table at the FAI World Air Games Dubai 2015, with 7 gold medals, 4 silver and 6 bronze. USA led a tight battle with France which just missed the top by 1 gold medal and takes second place with 6 gold, 10 silver, and 2 bronze medals. Russia came third with 6 gold, 4 silver, 3 bronze.

All rise for Russian Rotorcraft champs

23560674102 6c905f3c9b_k“Russia! Russia!” rang out across the Skydive Dubai Palm Dropzone last night (December 11), as Russian helicopter pilots Alexander Zhuperin and Nikolay Burov stepped up for their Rotorcraft gold medals.

The new FAI World Air Games champions were joined on the podium by silver medallists Michal and Marcin Szamborski from Poland, and Austrians Thomas Morgenstern and Stefan Seer, there to claim bronze.
