Ten years ago today famous aviator Steve Fossett set a gliding world record that still stands today. Flying with former NASA test pilot Einar Enevoldson the pair hit an absolute altitude of 15,460m while flying in mountain wave above the Andes in Argentina.

The United States has finished at the top of the medal table at the FAI World Air Games Dubai 2015, with 7 gold medals, 4 silver and 6 bronze. USA led a tight battle with France which just missed the top by 1 gold medal and takes second place with 6 gold, 10 silver, and 2 bronze medals. Russia came third with 6 gold, 4 silver, 3 bronze. Russia!” rang out across the Skydive Dubai Palm Dropzone last night (December 11), as Russian helicopter pilots Alexander Zhuperin and Nikolay Burov stepped up for their Rotorcraft gold medals. The new FAI World Air Games champions were joined on the podium by silver medallists Michal and Marcin Szamborski from Poland, and Austrians Thomas Morgenstern and Stefan Seer, there to claim bronze.
