2010 Space Models World Cup - Preliminary Results after all Scheduled Contests

There were scheduled 24 Space Models World Cup events on the FAI Contest Calendar 2010 - Space Models. In these events participated competitors from 25 countries from America, Asia and Europe: USA, Canada, Great Britain, Spain, Switzerland, Germany, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovak Republic, Slovenia, Spain, Croatia, Serbia, Macedonia, Romania, Bulgaria, Belarus, Ukraine, Russia, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan.Organizers were 16 countries in America, Asia and Europe.

Three contests were cancelled because of organisational reasons (in Krupka – Czech Republic, in Suceava - Romania and in Pljevlja - Montenegro). All the rest were held sucessfully. In several events classes S7 and S8E/P were neither registered to the Contest Calendar nor flown.

The organizers were very correct in preparing and sending results lists in term of days, so the current placing lists were published after each event. This contributed very much to the dynamics of this competition.

After several years of very intensive progress came „a relaxation period“ with very small positive variations of number of contests and participants with respect to previous year (2009) and overall increase of participants of 9,03%.

It is noticed a decrease of -9,16% in the most attractive class S7-Scale Model that requires rule matching to new interests of sportsmen and new technilogies. Fortunatelly a remarkable increase of 21,64% is noticed in other attractive class S8E/P – RC precision landing.

Preliminary results after all scheduled contests held in 2010 are in the attachment. They should be approved by the CIAM Bureau Meeting to be held in Lausanne from December 3 to 4 to become offical.

SM WCup stays the most effective promoting tool for this kind of modelling.
