Main decisions taken at the FAI Rotorcraft Commission 2013 Annual Meeting

logo cig 01 cmyk-ptThe 2013 Annual Meeting of the FAI Rotorcraft Commission (CIG) was held on 7 and 8 March 2013 in Lausanne (Switzerland).

  • Collaboration with FAME: The commission confirmed their support to Level 3 events by adding helicopters to an existing programme – either in the form of a show, a demonstration or a special event competition.
  • 14th FAI World Helicopter Championships in Drakino, Russia: There were 20,000 spectators over the last two days – entry was free.

Here are the main decisions that have been taken during the meeting:

Future competitions

15th FAI World Helicopter Championship
Interest was shown from Poland to organise the competition in 2015 with a test event in 2014. The Commission voted to support a Polish bid, and the Poland will use this support to further discuss the event with all participating bodies.

FAI On-line Helicopter Competition
This new type of competition, launched in 2012, is expected to grow in 2013 and future years. Results will be available on the CIG web pages.

Sporting Code Changes

Amendments to Sporting Code Section 9 have been approved.

Awards

There were no nominations in 2013.

The Commission agreed to produce a "Gold Book" for Helicopter Gold Medal winners. The President will undertake the design and preparation of the book (funded by CIG) which will be kept at FAI Head Office.

The next FAI Rotorcraft Commission annual meeting will take place on 6 and 7 March 2014 in Lausanne, Switzerland.
