An international medical symposium will take place in Dubai from 3 to 5 December 2015 as part of the FAI World Air Games. Aeromedical doctors and experts will convene to meet with world renowned speakers and discuss issues related to medical challenges in extreme air sports and in aviation. The 2015 FAI Awards Ceremony tonight celebrated the achievements of air sports men and women through the prestigious FAI Medals and Diploma, and the FAI-Breitling Awards. After a week of very exciting competition, French pilot Maximilian Seis, 22, was crowned Champion of the 6th FAI World Sailplane Grand Prix Championship yesterday in Varese, Italy. Christophe Ruch, also from France, finished with the silver medal and Sebastian Kawa from Poland with the bronze. Let us look back 45 years on the 6 September 1970 and recall an FAI World Record in Gain in Altitude for Aeromodelling and Spacemodelling (Class F) that has not been broken since. On that day, the American Maynard Luther Hill set the record in Gain in Altitude for Radio Control Flight Aeroplane, with a record altitude of 8.205m (26.920 feet). Hill’s “Catbird” launched at 5:24pm, when the sun was low in the sky and a remarkable improvement in visibility, from the former Naval Weapons Laboratory Airfield, Dahlgren, Virginia in the United States. France takes home all gold medals at the 28th FAI World Aerobatics Championships: general rankings, team ranking, individual male and individual female. After ten days of a particularly challenging competition French pilot Capitaine Alexandre Orlowski (France - left) is the new World Champion. The French female pilot Aude Lemordant (left) also takes gold at the women’s competition. She finishes sixth in general rankings, just behind Orlowski, Mikhail Mamistov (Russia) Castor Fantoba (Spain), Gerald Cooper (Great Britain) and Capitaine François Rallet (France). Coming from all parts of the globe, the participants in the 28th FAI World Aerobatic Championship received a warm welcome by the population of Châteauroux, France, this afternoon. Crowds cheered the pilots as they paraded down the streets of the city until the main place, where more than 2000 people had gathered to greet them and attend the opening ceremony.
