Solar Impulse Has Started Its Extraordinary Journey Across the Pacific Ocean

Solar Impulse took to the air today at 2.39am local time (6.39pm UTC) from Nanjing, China, and started its fantastic bid to cross the Pacific Ocean without using any fuel. If André Borschberg, the pilot of the aircraft, successfully lands in Hawaii, he will have achieved the longest flight in distance and duration by a solar-powered aircraft.

She established a female category duration world record for balloons in class AX-10 (Hot-air balloons: 4.000 to 6.000 m³) for a flight of 19h 07min 55sec on 21 May 2000 with the balloon “Lindstrand LBL-210 A” (G-FVBF).

In that frame, we are trying to inssure that all athletes participating in FAI sanctioned events (any event registered in the FAI Calendar) and who may therefore be subject to doping control must request a TUE before taking a prohibited medication.

FAI Announces Winners of the 2015 FAI Young Artists Contest

The FAI is pleased to announce the list of the winners for the 2015 FAI Young Artists Contest. An international jury selected the three best paintings for each of the categories: Junior (ages 6-9), Intermediate (ages 10-13), Senior (ages 14-17). Their authors will receive FAI gold, silver and bronze medals.

FAI Environmental Commission Newsletter - April 2015

The FAI Environmental Commission has been acting quietly for years, considering and preparing advice for all sporting and recreational aviators. The original challenge was to provide the basics for establishing a code, a presence on the FAI website and setting up standards for air sports environmentally friendly activities.

When these tasks were completed, one might think that EnvC just has to wait for some opportunities to arise to speak of birds and flowers alongside our beautiful flying sites. It may not be the case.

FAI Invites Nominations for the Breitling Milestone Trophy and the Breitling Youngster Award

We are now calling for nominations for the FAI-Breitling Awards for 2015: the Breitling Milestone Trophy and the Breitling Youngster Award. Both awards will be presented in September at the Awards Ceremony of the FAI General Conference in Rotterdam (Netherlands), where the winners will be invited and hosted by Breitling.
