From 5 to 12 September 2015, twenty amongst the best gliding pilots in the world will battle out to win the 6th FAI World Sailplane Grand Prix Championship at Calcinate Del Pesce Airport in Varese, Italy. The first World Gliding Championship in the 13.5 Metre Class took place at Pociunai, Lithuania 1-16 August 2015. The competition was held in combination with the Lithuanian Club Class/Mix Class Nationals. The combined event served as a practice event for next year’s 34th World Gliding Championships in the Club, Standard, and 20 meter Multi-seat Classes. The countdown to one of the most exciting and competitive sporting events this fall has started. On the 5th of September, 20 of the best pilots in the world will be coming to Varese, Italy, where they will compete for the title of FAI World Sailplane Grand Prix Champion. The pilots for the 6th FAI Sailplane Grand Prix World Final have qualified for their place by competing in one of the 6th FAI/SGP series qualifying events. FAI invites you to visit the 
In a symbolic gesture, today the torch of the FAI World Air Games Dubai 2015 was lit and handed over today by FAI to the Emirates Aerosports Federation (EAF) as the Games Organising Committee. The ceremony took place at the Olympic Museum located in the city of Lausanne, Switzerland, where FAI has its headquarters. It featured distinguished guests from the air sports community and beyond.
As the 200-day mark to the FAI World Air Games Dubai 2015 approaches, everyone, from the Event Organisers to the Executive Board, the FAI Head Office, the Air Sports Commissions and experts, is in full action to make the event a huge success. A series of meetings took place recently which brought together key personalities from the FAI community and the Event Organising Committee.
The FAI has today announced the list of the 11 sports and 24 disciplines selected for the FAI World Air Games Dubai 2015. More than 1000 athletes, crews and officials will be involved in the multi air sports event. It will be the biggest FAI World Air Games ever organised.
The first FAI Sailplane Grand Prix event of 2015 at Worcester in the Cape Mountains of South Africa produced some spectacular races. The fastest race speed was 189.9 Kilometres per hour by Laurens Goudriaan of South Africa during race 4 with a fantastic flight around 475 kilometres, even the slowest winning race speed was 138 kilometres per hour. The contest was a close match with a battle for first place between Laurens and Uli Schwenck of Germany but Laurens last two day wins clinched the first place and this top pair blew away the opposition with their consistent and very fast flying. The race location at Worcester has proved itself to have a great potential as a Grand Prix site and I am sure there are many pilots who will be keen to fly the next event there. FAI officials gathered in Dubai this week to get to know the members of the Organising Committee, the host city and the competition venues of the FAI World Air Games Dubai 2015. A series of meetings were held where the Executive Board and the FAI World Air Games Experts from the Sports Commissions discussed the key issues pertinent to FAI’s flagship event.
