COLPAR recently concluded their Latin American Championships in Canopy Piloting, 3 – 7 September 2014, which were held at the National Skydiving Centre in the City of Boituva, being about 116kms from Brazil's largest city, São Paulo.
The Latin American countries of Argentina, Brazil, Cuba, Chile and Paraguay were represented by 15 competitors. Clicking on this link will take you directly to the Official Results which can be viewed/downloaded as a pdf file.
A clean sweep by Brazil's competitors, having taken the first four positions in the overall standings. Wholehearted congratulations are offered to the new Latin American Champions in Canopy Piloting:
Gold Medal: Carlos Ribeiro Marques
Silver Medal: Manoel Pereira Maciel
Bronze Medal: Paulo Ribeiro Marques
Not only did Carlos Ribeiro Marques, popularly known as Kalay, break the Latin American distance record but his overall scores are clearly up there with the World Champions in Canopy Piloting. Joining him on the podium was his brother, Paulo Ribeiro Marques, adding to the growing fraternity of siblings participating in competitive skydiving events. This competition also saw the breaking of the Latin American speed record by 4th placed Eduardo Meirelles.
COLPAR's General Assembly was held on 5 September also at the National Skydiving Centre and was attended by delegates of five member countries.
