26th August report

Day 4

Due to my internet problems I did not receive the final report from Klatovy yesterday until this morning -

"Finished the last round of Distance about 16.20 - see results. Competitor meeting in 45 minutes to discuss the Freestyle event planned for tomorrow. The jury has given the organisers their blessing to move up the closing ceremonies to tomorrow evening.

Today: - the Meeting to discuss Freestyle was held when the distance round was over. Should have about 30 entered if they didn't party too long last night.freestyle run 09.30 call. First round of Freestyle got going about 10.00. Some exciting stuff happening - pictures below. The competiton has been declared final by the Jury as of 11.00 the 26th August, 2011. Awards and Closing Ceremonies this evening at 18.00 by the Klatovy Town Hall.

11.40 and the last of the Freestyle runs are made. Results will follow a little later as these are manually recorded and calculated.

25th August

Had a lovely thunJay Moldesky - Current World Champion Overallder storm overnight but it has now cleared and competitors are on call for the final round of Speed. That will be followed by the final round of Distance. If time allows there will be a competitor meeting to discuss what they would like to see in the future. The planned Freestyle competition will be discussed at that time and if there is enough interest that will likely go ahead tomorrow.  The plane is starting so I best get to the course for the exciting final!

10.55 We are just waiting to finish the Speed - a few rejumps caused by wayward bugs, etc. and a couple of mals.

24th August – report

10.00   We are starting this morning with Accuracy. A few showers delayed the start but the first load is off at 10.00 - feels like another hot one coming. The third round of Speed will be completed when some technical problems have been sorted.latex suit

Stay tuned!

It's 16.00 and we are just starting the third round of accuracy. If we get finished the 3rd round today - some towering Q nim around - that will leave one round of Speed and two of Accuracy to complete tomorrow.

16.52 - finished round 3 or Accuracy, except for a rejump to a competitor who had a malfunction. Also have started second round of Sistance - sky looking better

18.53 Done for the day. Got all the rejumps done and now have finished all Accuracy and two rounds of Distance today. 09.00 call for tomorrow - Speed is planned first.

23rd August – report

7.35 am    Well, here we are on day one of the Canopy Piloting European Championships and World Cup here in Klatovy. Another clear morning with light winds to welcome the first round of the Distance Event. The plan is to finish two rounds of Distance and then move to one of the other events - I'll keep you posted.

10.43 am Round 1 of distance is over, nothing spectacular; moving on to do a round of Speed

16.37  We are into the second round of Speed. Some system failures led to rejumps late in the first round, but these have all been completed. It is not likely the system had been tested in the close to 35 degrees C temperatures, but we are marching on. Some decent scores have posted considering the dropzone altitude. Greg swears by his spandex suit - so do the girls - I think!

20.27 - not much in the way of a breeze here - just the occasional gust up to 3 mps. It was enough to influence a couple of the speed runs but on the most part competitors had little wind or a head wind to deal with. We finished late due to a number of rejumps accumulated during Round 2. Got the final three up in a Cessna as we approached sunset. The plan from the Meet Director is to finish round three of Speed in the morning - 8.30 call.

 22nd August - report

It's official practice day here in Klatovy under clear skies and warm breezes.

Official practice jumps are over for the day but competitors are continuing to make training jumps until 16.30 deadline to ready for the Opening Ceremonies. 101 Competitors registered.

21st Augus - reportt

4th World Cup in Canopy Piloting, 7-11 November 2007, Sydney Australia

Sunday 11th November, the last day. A really beautiful morning, the sun is shining and there is a low headwind on the course. Yesterday 2 rounds of the Accuracy Event were completed  so just one round left for a complete World Cup. Earlier in the week that did not seem a possibility.

The 4th FAI World Cup in Canopy Piloting 2007 was declared finished with valid results at 15.30 on Sunday 11th November.    The award ceremony took place at the closing banquet and was electronically organised (flags displayed on a screen).  Thanks were given to all those who made the competition possible.  There were no protests.  The Accuracy Event was won by Brian McNenney, 2nd place Ian Bobo and 3rd to Martin Backlin.

Congratulations to all the Medal Winners in each Event and to the Overall Champion again:

Jason Moledzki, Canada, Gold Medal Winner

Jonathan Tagle, U.S.A., Silver Medal Winner

Ian Bobo, U.S.A., Bronze Medal Winner

2007 WC's & EC's in Formation Skydiving and Artistic Events, Stupino, 5 Aug - 12 Aug.

Saturday, 11th August 2007 11.30 hrs the World Cup and European Championships 2007 - Stupino, Russia was declared closed. The FUN flag reappeared with the French Female 4-way Team at the prize-giving. The Award Ceremony was marred by the non appearance of the Bronze Medal winners of the World Cup in 4-way Formation Skydiving, Sky Panters and as the Russian Team for the European Championships, for "technical" reasons. I have now had time to load all the pictures I have - I am sorry if I missed your team, please forward any pictures to me for inclusion on the site - freefall ones would be nice! Thank you to Jan Meyers (Omniskore) and Archie from the French Delegation for their pics.
