Check out a selection of photos HERE and videos HERE Day 4: Thursday 28th May 2015: 17.30hrs After the excitement of a successful conclusion to the 1st World Cup in Wingsuit Performance Flying the English weather took over and the winds went over the limits - even for wingsuit jumping. All the plans being made to try and create Performance Records were put on hold for the afternoon, but by 17.30 the first lift was called. There is a relaxed feel on the DZ after such intense days of competition - some of the load want to just flock with friends, others want to do some serious attempts at that first Performance Record (Time), we wait to see and can enjoy the beauty of the summer evening here at Netheravon. 10.15hrs: In practical terms the competition is over but we are still within the 2 hour window where a protest could in theory be entered. Being the very first World Cup there are simply loads of records being set and the complete list will be available here soon. In the meantime we can confirm that the 1st FAI Wingsuit Performance Flying Winners are:
Congratulations to you all!! Whilst competitive wingsuit performance flying has only been around since 2006, Espen Fadnes's scores in this competition are the highest ever recorded scores. On the basis of 100% being the winning score in each task, potentially giving the overall winner a total of 300% - Espen achieved 294.4%. A remarkable score for some one who hasn't been competing very long. 09.12hrs: The final competitor has landed! 07.40hrs: By 07.00hrs the airfield was buzzing, not only as there was just one round in the Speed task to complete the competition, but everyone was greeted by a virtually cloud-free blue sky with low winds, albeit a bit chilly. We need just 6 lifts and the scores of the first lift are already in. Spike Harper (UK) has just clocked up a 312.8kph - but we do have another 47 jumpers to go!
