Jean-Marc Badan appointed new FAI Secretary General

Jean-Marc Badan, the previous FAI Sports Director and Deputy to the Secretary General, has been appointed as the new Secretary General of the FAI – the International Air Sports Federation. He will formally take up his appointment in Lausanne, Switzerland, on 1st October 2011.

Keith Negal

Keith Negal, the FAI Vice President for the UK, passed away peacefully on Friday 4th February, with his wife Shirley at his side. Keith had been diagnosed with a brain tumour in December 2009. He bore his illness, which he was told at an early stage he would be unlikley to survive, with typical fortitude, bravery and typical good humour.

New FAI Secretary General Appointed

Stéphane Desprez, former Competition Director of the 2008 Rugby World Cup in France, has been appointed as the new Secretary General of the FAI – the World Air Sports Federation. He will formally take up his appointment in Lausanne, Switzerland, on 1st February 2010.

Version 2 of the 2007 edition of SC10 Annex 4 published

Following the decision of the CIMA plenary in November 2006, one reference to bouncing in Classics classes precision task catalogue was not amended properly. In the 2007 Annex 4, 2.C3, [If the aircraft bounces the score will be the lowest value of the strips entered.] should be deleted. A new version 2 of FAI Section 10 Annex 4 has now been issued to correct this error and is available at: http://www.fai.org/microlight/documents/sc10 This version 2 is identifiable in the following ways: - "Amended 15 January 2007" on the cover page. - A note at the top of Annex 4 describing the nature of the amendment. - v2 in the header pages of the amended sections.

2007 edition of Section 10 published

The 2007 edition of Section 10 of the FAI Sporting Code has now been published online. This document includes the rules for microlight international competitions and world records. Also published are the new 2006 editions of annexes 3-4 (Master Local Regulations & Task Catalog - 2007 edition) and annex 6 (GNSS Flight Recorders). These documents can be downloaded from the CIMA Documents Page.
