José Manuel (Juaki) Sánchez García, co-organizer, is proud to announce that for July 2014 the 19th FAI European Hang Gliding Championship will take part in Arangoiti - Navarra – Spain. Therefore this year the test event, Pre-European HG championship in Class 1, is ran. The dates for the Pre-Euros are in August, 2013 from 12th to the 18th both inclusive. The website that is holding all the information of the event is www.arangoiti2014.com This year is run an International Open, tagged as a category 2 event in the CIVL calendar, that is open to all pilots. The entries are already available at the web site in the Registration section. All are invited to join and fly in one of the best flying sites of Spain. The 19th FAI Hang Gliding Class 1 World Championship came to an end on January 18th in Forbes, Australia. An exciting competition with many and long tasks, and in the end true Champions: Corinna Schwiebershausen for her 5th title, Manfred Ruhmer for his 4th, Italy for its 3rd! Congratulation! The 19th FAI World Hang Gliding Class 1 Championship Local Regulations have been amended. They can be found here. Team size, extended from 5+2 to 6+2, is the main point. Yassen Savov (Bulgaria) and Austria kings of the Paragliding Euro!

The twelfth European Paragliding Championship is over. The last task day was a 74 km tour of the high ridges and valleys to the west of the takeoff overlooking St. Andre les Alpes. The top five places were tight—a false step by any pilot would knock them out of the running. Yassen Savov was in first place, having taken second the day before. It was amazing to see the lead gaggle come in fairly tightly strung out after more than two hours bouncing around in the windy conditions. In the end, Yassen finished fourth, only 17 points behind the day’s winner, Marc Wensauer. It was enough to keep him in first place, so we have a new champion form Bulgaria. Cheers to Yassen and all the competitors who shared the blue skies above St. Andre in Les Alpes de Haut-Provence. On the Individual podiums... Overall: Yassen Saov (Bulgaria), Xevi Bonet Dalmau (Spain) and Russell Ogden (Great Britain). Women: Nicole Fedele (Italia), Kirsty Cameron (Great Britain) and Regula Starsser (Switzerland).
