Wieczorek wins the 20th World Precision Flying Championships

20th FAI World Precision Flying Championship podiumThe 20th World Precision Flying Championships was held in Brits, South Africa from 23-29 October 2011.

The winner of the event was Michal Wieczorek (Poland). He was followed by Boleslaw Radmoski (Poland) in 2nd position and Michal Filip (Czech Republic) in 3rd position.

Jean-Marc Badan appointed new FAI Secretary General

Jean-Marc_BadanJean-Marc Badan, the previous FAI Sports Director and Deputy to the Secretary General, has been appointed as the new Secretary General of the FAI – the International Air Sports Federation. He will formally take up his appointment in Lausanne, Switzerland, on 1st October 2011.

Hans Gutmann

The FAI deeply regrets to announce the sad death of Hans Gutmann, the President of the FAI General Aviation Commission, who died along with two other people in a fatal crash onboard his C 172 near Piacenza, Italy, on Saturday 18 June 2011.

Elected President of the FAI GAC Commission in 2010, Hans Gutmann had been active in the General Aviation and Amateur-build world for many years as a Delegate, Alternate Delegate, Subcommittee Chairman and Technical Adviser, where his knowledge was highly regarded.

New FAI Secretary General Appointed

Stéphane Desprez, former Competition Director of the 2008 Rugby World Cup in France, has been appointed as the new Secretary General of the FAI – the World Air Sports Federation. He will formally take up his appointment in Lausanne, Switzerland, on 1st February 2010.

2008 Annual Plenary Meeting

The General Aviation Commission met in Prague (CZE) on October 17-19, during which GAC President Mr. Pedro CABANERO-MARIMON (ESP) and his bureau were re-elected to serve another year. The next meeting will take place on 6-8 November 2009 in Palma de Mallorca (ESP).
