World Air Games 2009 : Ballooning Test Event Completed

The 21st Italian Hot Air Balloons Championship and World Air Games Test Event was held from 8 to 13 July at Mondovi. The new Italian Champion is Paolo Bonanno. Four successful competition days provided valuable experience of the flight conditions around Mondovi.

One of the most exciting and spectacular tasks was set on Friday evening, when competitors had to reach a "Judge Declared Goal" located just above the Mondovi's "Torre del Belvedere" (Photos / Results). A series of test competitions is being conducted throughout 2008 (Schedule) to gain experience of the World Air Games 2009 competition rules and technical infrastructure. The next test competition (Hang Gliding & Paragliding) will take place on 18 and 19 August at Avigliana.
