Exploring the new Global Drone Ecosystem - Lausanne, Switzerland, 1-3 Sept

DronesExpoA unique Drone conference and expo that will bring together the world's "global Drone ecosystem" is taking place in Lausanne, Switzerland over three days from 1-3 September 2017.

Organised by the FAI, the World Air Sports Federation, the FAI International Drones Conference and Expo will feature more than 20 speakers from the Drone industry and further afield on 1-2 September.

The conference will focus on three main topics related to Drones:

Innovation – Safety – Sports

In advance of the conference FAI Secretary General Susanne Schödel said: “This conference is unique as it will combine innovation, safety and sports – the whole global Drone ecosystem.”

The conference will include talks on: Urban transportation and drones; Logistics; Humanitarian needs; Public safety; Agriculture; Flying robots; Earth observation; Data collection; Best use; Anti-collision and radar; Air transport and public space; Education and schools; Drone Sports/Racing, eGaming and eSports.

Speakers will include representatives from: the European Aviation Safety Agency; Noosphere; The Institute for Drone Technology; Lufthansa; DJI; Swiss eSports Association; Federal Office of Civil Aviation; Aeromodelling; Freedom Drone Sports; NCCR Robotics; Aurora Flight Science; Post CH; WeRobotics; and the FAI, World Air Sports Federation.

The conference and expo is being held as part of EPFL Drone Days 2017, a three-day discovery showcase about the world of Drones and Drone technology. The venue, EPFL (École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne), is a research institute and a proven centre for excellence in robotics research and innovation.

EPFL Drone Days 2017 will also include three days of drone-racing held by the Swiss Rotor Sports Association (SRSA) and a robotics showcase by the Swiss National Centre of Competence in Research Robotics (NCCR Robotics).

The FAI was founded in 1905 and recognized by the IOC. It has responsibility to govern, grow and unify leisure and sport Drone activities globally.
