The World Air Games Test Event for Microlights (Weight-shift controlled and Paramotors) was successfully held on 27 and 28 September at the Torino-Aeritalia Airport (ITA). Fourteen pilots flew the spectacular Pylon Race event with their Weight-shift controlled microlights (trikes), and seventeen paramotor pilots competed in the Basket Slalom, Clover Leaf and Dragon Tail attractive tasks. This event concluded the series of test competitions conducted throughout 2008 (Schedule). Some 200 athletes traveled from Europe, Oceania, Africa and North America to attend the various Test Events, thus allowing the Organising Committee to gain experience of the World Air Games 2009 competition rules and technical infrastructure. During the forthcoming months, additional smaller events will be held to continue gathering experience and testing specific technical elements of the 2009 Games such as, for example, live tracking or TV production.
