WPRS Update February 2005

PARAGLIDING The only competition added was the Pre PG World Cup in Colombia. Competitions deleted were the British PG Piedrahita, Nordic 0pen, PG World Cup La Clusaz, Russian Open (Austria), World PG Champs 03. Results not received so not added are: 3rd Monaco Open, La Palma Open, Korean Presidents Cup, Argentine Loma Bola, Polish Cornizzolo Cup, Norwegian Open, French Alps/Annecy, 3rd Porto de Espada, British Open Long Mynd, Finnish Nationals and Finnish League, Piedrahita Open, Swiss PG Champs, Korean League, Gianni Cerroni Trophy, X Copa Pirineus, Slovak Nationals, Hungarian Nationals. There are quite a few place changes in the top 10. Number one slot is taken by Nikolay Shorokov (RUS) followed by Bruce Goldsmith (GBR) up 4 places to 2nd and Xevi Bonet Dalmau (ESP) up 8 to 3rd. Tomas Brauner (CZE) drops 3 places to 4th and Martin Orlik (CZE) jumps 7 to be 5th. Paolo Zammarchi (ITA) gains 8 places to lie 6th while compatriot Jimmy Pacher (ITA) slips 2 to 7th. The best gain is made by Steve Ham (GBR) up 10 to 8th, overtaking Jean-Marc Caron (FRA) by one point while Christian Biasi (ITA) drops 7 places to complete the top 10. In the nations rankings Czech Republic maintain their lead, 2nd is Italy followed by Germany, Poland and France. HANG GLIDING (Class 1) The World Championships in Hay and the Bogong Cup were added Results in 2004 not received so NOT added were 1st Sertao Voanda, Greek Nats Mt Kitheron, Mt Timifis and Mt Kozakas, Montana, Portuguese Open, Slovenian Open, Upper Austrian, Korean League. Oleg Bondarchuk (UKR) leads, with Mario Alonzi (FRA) 2nd and Brett Hazlett (CAN) 3rd.Two Australians are close behind, Kraig Coomber in 4th and Johnny Durand Jnr tying with Gerholf Heinrichs in 5th. Attila Bertok (HUN) takes 7th slot ahead of Antoine Boisselier (FRA), Oliver Barthelmes (GER) is comfortable in 9th and Steve Moyes (AUS) completes the top 10. Australia are leading the Nations rankings, followed by France, Austria, Germany and Italy. CLASS 5 Alex Ploner (ITA) has a clear lead from compatriot Christian Ciech (ITA) with David Chaumet (FRA) in 3rd. Ralf Miederhoff (GER) is in 4th with Toni Raumauf (AUT) in 5th. In the nations ranking there is quite a separation between Italy, Austria and Germany that make up the top 3. PARAGLIDING ACCURACY No competitions were added since the December update. The European Cup in Ozven 2004 was deleted. Slovenia hold on to the top 4 places; Matjaz Feraric swops places with Matjaz Sluga, Jaka Gorenc stays 3rd and Franc Unuk 4th, but Brit Andy Shaw (GBR) gains a place to be equal 5th with Tone Svoljsak. Dimitar Ralev (BUL) moves up 2 to 7th place, Dusan Gorenc (SLO) moves up one to 8th, Neil Slinger (GBR) moves up 3 to 9th but Zoran Petrovic makes the biggest gain of 4 places to make 10th slot. The nations ranking stays the same, Slovenia lead, GBR is 2nd and Serbia and Montenegro 3rd.
