Today is the 11th day of the FAI World Paragliding Championship 2007 in Manilla, Australia. Unfortunately there have only been 3 tasks flown in the first 10 days. This is due to bad weather of all sorts, thunderstorms, rain which has been dearly needed for the local farmers for the last 7 years now, and strong winds. Yesterday’s task (Tuesday) was cancelled after “parawaiting” for 4 hours on the hill due to strong winds and turbulent conditions. For the first time in a Cat 1 competition, a female is leading the competition. Petra Slivova (CZE) is in first place after 3 tasks with 2723 points. Bruce Goldsmith (GBR) is in second place with 2578 points and Jean-Marc Caron (FRA) is in third place with 2517 points. The weather forecast for the next few days does not look so good. But hopefully there will be further tasks flown during the last 3 days of the competition.
