Following the decision of Paula Sayer, our CIVL competitions coordinator of many years, to move on to new horizons, we are in urgent need of recruiting her replacement. We believe the post will suit an IT-oriented person who understands the CIVL sanctioned competition scene (hang gliding or paragliding). Paula will be continuing to work with us until the Plenary meeting in February, after which time she will be sorely missed by all of us. The Hang Gliding and Paragliding Commission of the Fédération Aéronautique Internationale (CIVL) is seeking a suitable person to act as Competitions Coordinator. The successful applicant will have some knowledge of hang gliding and/or paragliding competitions and CIVL, good written and spoken English, plus some database-oriented IT skills. As the work is Internet based, it may be done at a location of the candidate’s choice Working hours average 8-12 hours per week, but vary with the flying seasons. The person must be in a position to invoice the FAI for his/her work on a regular basis, in conformity with the tax/employment laws in force in his/her country of residence, and in accordance with the rate agreed with the CIVL President. The work involves: • Screening applications for sanctioning of events to be entered on the CIVL Sporting Calendar • Running the CIVL World Pilot Ranking System (WPRS), which includes receiving and uploading competition results and managing pilots and results database. • Communicating as necessary with event organisers around the world • Ensuring that local organisers have the approval of their national federations for planned sanctioned competitions • Communicating on these and matters relating to competition sanction fees with CIVL and the FAI Secretariat Further details of the work required by CIVL, are available by email on request from the CIVL President, Flip Koetsier, via the FAI Secretariat sec@fai.org.
