Well, here in Europe the sun is finally back and it looks like we might have a real Summer after a very long Winter and hardly any Spring! So pilots are looking up and feeling happy. The flying season is on and strong… What’s up in May 2013?

Guido Gerhmann passed away. Our deepest sympathy to his family and friends. Nicky Moss was chosen to be our Competition Coordinator Officer. Congratz Nicky!
The 2013 version of Section 7 for Hang gliding and Paragliding have been published and are available on the Document chapter of our website. Somehow the Paragliding Accuracy, Records and badges, Aerobatic S7 are still to be published. Pilot selection for the coming Paragliding World championships in Sopot, Bulgaria, came to an end. 150 pilots from 39 countries should participate. FAME, the FAI Sports Marketing and Events Company, FAME, the FAI Sports Marketing and Events Company, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with CIVL. Both will to create project teams, with financial backing, to facilitate the creation and presentation of hang gliding and aerobatic events. Important and successful lobbying was done for FAI to improve its financial organization. Commissions will have a much better access to their accounts, now separate, hence will know at anytime where they stand. CIVL will test/spearhead the new organisation. Committee are exchanging extensively in our Basecamp working area…

What’s up in April 2013?
Friday, 05 April 2013 11:52
Right after the Plenary, the new CIVL Bureau met and defined a global organization and strategy for the coming months. Three weeks were necessary to write the Plenary minutes plus annexes and published them on this website. The Committees, Working Group and Officers positions were finalized and all started working on their own agenda. This work is done mainly on Basecamp, a project management tool. We switched from Basecamp Classic to a new and quite different version of the software. The Local Regulations for the 7th World Paragliding Accuracy 2013 Championships were finalized and published. The athletes for the Paragliding Accuracy event of the World Games 2013 were selected. The helmet and harness lists were updated. Last but not least, a memorandum of understanding was signed by CIVL and FAI Air Sports Marketing & Events SA (FAME) to promote aerobatic events. Thursday, 31 January 2013 17:25
Well, this IS a new year, so happy and merry to everyone! And specially to Molly and Bill Moyes, still going strong after more than 40 years of involvement in our sport! January has been quiet on CIVL Bureau front. With the agenda published, we almost took a nap until the next Plenary. But… The Plenary Agenda was adjusted twice, with a bid for a Hang Gliding World Championship in Mexico in 2015, and a bid to hold the Plenary in Bali, Indonesia in 2015. We refused to add awards nominations as they came too late. There was a FAI Hang Gliding World Championship in Forbes, Australia, and a very successful one, with great Champions crowded. We had to adjust the Remote Jury, as one member was not available after all. We worked on the next FAI Paragliding World Championship local regulations; on CIVL annual report for FAI annual report; on our financial situation, with difficulty as the FAI person in charge had a bad accident and was not available (get well fast, Cosette!). We followed with attention on the CIVL Delegates mailing list the discussion on the new PG Competition Class glider proposals. That's it, Folks! See you soon at the Plenary! |
