FAI/IGC Gliding Weeks 2005 : A Contribution to FAI Centenary
The International Gliding Commission (IGC) recently announced the manner in which they will contribute to the celebrations of the FAI 100th anniversary in 2005.

During 2005, the year of FAI Centenary, the IGC will ask all glider pilots around the world to track their kilometers flown during a specific two week period in each hemisphere. Pilots will be invited to submit their flights via a link on the IGC website; this link will be provided in January 2005. All flights will be tracked with the support of the On Line Contest (OLC), the highly successful world on-line gliding competition. The total number of kilometers flown in honor of the FAI Centenary will be tallied and reported in October 2005, at the official celebration of the FAI Centenary in Paris, France.

The Southern Hemisphere period for the submission of flights will be January 29 – February 13, 2005.

The Northern hemisphere period for submission of flights will be June 25 – July 10, 2005.

FAI Centenary diplomas will be awarded to the pilots from each hemisphere who have made the longest flight in any of the FAI classes of gliders, Open, 18 Meter, 15 Meter, Standard, Club, Ultralight and World Class.

Semaines de vol à voile FAI/IGC 2005
La Commission internationale de vol à voile de la FAI (IGC) a récemment annoncé la manière dont elle contribuera, en vol, aux célébrations du 100ème anniversaire de la FAI en 2005.

Dans le courant 2005, année du Centenaire de la FAI, l'IGC proposera aux pilotes de vol à voile du monde entier d'enregistrer les kilomètres qu'ils auront parcourus en vol au cours de deux périodes de deux semaines fixées dans chaque hémisphère. Par l'intermédiaire de la page Internet IGC, les pilotes seront invités à soumettre leurs vols au Concours en ligne (OLC - On Line Contest), compétition en ligne bien connue du monde vélivole, et qui apportera son soutien à cette opération. Les kilomètres parcourus en l'honneur du Centenaire de la FAI seront finalement totalisés et annoncés en octobre 2005 à l'occasion de la célébration officielle du Centenaire de la FAI à Paris.

Hémisphère Sud : la période d'enregistrement des vols a été fixée du 29 janvier au 13 février 2005.

Hémisphère Nord : la période d'enregistrement des vols a été fixée du 25 juin au 10 juillet 2005.

Des diplômes "Centenaire FAI" seront décernés aux pilotes de chaque hémisphère qui auront accompli les vols les plus longs dans les classes de planeurs FAI Ouverte, 18 mètres, 15 mètres, Standard, Club, Ultra-légère et Mondiale.
