CIMA Plenary Meeting

The FAI Microlight Commission (CIMA) held its Annual Plenary Meeting on 11 and 12 November 2005 in Lausanne (SUI), at the Olympic Museum.

Elections
Mr Tomas Backman (SWE) was re-elected as the CIMA President, Mr Richard Meredith-Hardy (GBR) as 1st Vice-President and Mr Keith Negal (GBR) as Secretary, while Mr Antonio Marchesi (ESP) was newly elected as 2nd Vice-President.

Future Championships
CIMA decided to award the organization of the following competitions to the countries shown :
9th FAI European Microlight Classic Classes Championships, 2006, Nördlingen (GER)
2006 FAI European Microlight Paramotor Championships, 2006, Chozas de Abajo (ESP)
Provisional : 11th FAI World Microlight Classic Classes Championships, 2007, Most (CZE)
Provisional : 5th FAI World Microlight Paramotor Championships, 2007, Near Beijing (CHN)

World Championships go to China !
The FAI Microlight Commission (CIMA) has provisionally agreed to award the organization of the 5th FAI World Microlight Paramotor Championship (paramotors and paratrikes) to China. Subject to successful conclusion of detailed discussions, the Championship will be held at an air sports centre north of Beijing, near the Great Wall, which offers great opportunities for flying in mountains and over the plain.

This will be the first-ever World Championship in this category to be held outside Europe, and confirms the rapidly increasing air sport activity in China, and in Asia generally.

On the date of FAI's 100th anniversary - 14 October 2005 - and in association with the National Aeroclub, Serbia and Montenegro's official postal authority, Jugomarka, issued a set of commemorative stamps.
