FAI Seminar for Event Directors

In April 2006, a FAI Seminar for Event Directors will be held in order to share knowledge gathered in all air sports, and evaluate how FAI can help event directors to add value to their events, especially in universal matters such as media-coverage, sports marketing, environmental and safety issues.

Open to representatives of FAI Air Sport Commissions, FAI Members and persons occupying senior positions in FAI Championship Organizing Committees, this FAI Seminar for Event Directors will be held from 7 to 9 April 2006, at the House of Sport of the Danish National Olympic Committee located in Bröndby, near Copenhagen.

Complete initial information can be downloaded here : FAI Seminar for Event Directors (242 kb); all persons interested in taking part to the Seminar are cordially invited to register by 31 January 2006 at the latest.

EAS and FAI reinforce their co-operation

The Presidents of FAI and Europe Air Sports (EAS), Pierre Portmann and Sir John Allison, met near London on 15 December accompanied by their Secretaries-General and the Treasurer of EAS. They reaffirmed their close relationship, enshrined in a Memorandum of Understanding that has now been in effect, with amendments, for over 10 years.

The Presidents agreed that continuing close co-operation remained vital, especially in view of current developments in EASA, Eurocontrol and the Single European Sky, which could have a global impact. The needs and objectives of both organizations (whose members are substantially the same) run parallel in regulatory matters, and a twin-track approach at ICAO and European levels was essential.

The Presidents therefore decided to reinforce the practical arrangements for co-operation and co-ordination of information- gathering and policy-making. Options for future sharing of staff and facilities will be investigated. The MoU will be adjusted to reflect these considerations.
