IPC Plenary Meeting

The FAI Parachuting Commission (IPC) held its Annual Plenary Meeting on 28 and 29 January 2006 in Stockholm (SWE).

Sport Parachuting at the IWGA World Games : In view of the positive results achieved at the World Games 2005 in Duisburg (GER), particularly in terms of public attendance and media exposure, IPC Delegates unanimously approved continuing support for the inclusion of sport parachuting in the World Games. The 8th World Games will take place in 2009 in Kaoshiung (TPE).

Awards : The Leonardo da Vinci Diploma was awarded for the year 2005 to Mr Marco Pflüger (GER) in recognition of his outstanding athletic achievements in competitive parachuting nationally and internationally.

Elections : Mr Patrice GIRARDIN (FRA) was re-elected IPC President. All IPC Officers were re-elected (see the List of IPC Officers and Delegates).

FAI President Portmann in Philippines

Air Sports are growing rapidly throughout Asia, and FAI is focusing on ways of promoting this growth. On 1 February 2006, the FAI President, on a private visit, met Mr. John Paul Reyes, President of the "3D Air Sports And Hobbies Association" in Manila, Philippines, for discussions on the future of air sports in that large and populous island country.



FAI Young Artists Contest 2006

Shosuke TAKEUCHI (JPN), 1st Prize winner in the Intermediate Category of the 2005 FAI Young Artists Contest, came to Paris with his parents on 12 October 2005 to receive his medal and diploma from FAI President, Pierre Portmann.
