During the recent 2008 Sportaccord Congress in Athens, the FAI President and Secretary General were invited by the Greek Minister for Sport to discuss air sports in Greece and the Icaria flame-lighting ceremony at the opening ceremony of the World Air Games in Turin in 2009. The annual meetings of three associations of which FAI is an active member took place in Athens:

In addition, the Sportaccord Congress gave the FAI officials opportunities for discussions with top International Olympic Committee officials, cities interested in hosting major air sports events, representatives of media and marketing companies, and representatives of the 2009 World Games Organising Committee in Kaohsiung, where skydiving will be on the programme - http://www.worldgames2009.tw/english/index.asp
