World Air Games 2009 : Successful Gliding GP Test Event

The 1st Torino Sailplane Grand Prix was held from 15 to 21 June at the Torino Aeritalia Airport. The winner of this Qualifying GP, a Test Event for the World Air Games 2009, was the Italian pilot Stefano Ghiorzo. After the first two competition days had to be cancelled (rain), four daily tasks were successfully achieved (Photos / Results) and allowed gathering precious experience on the flight conditions around Turin.

A series of test competitions is being conducted throughout 2008 (Schedule) to gain experience of the World Air Games 2009 competition rules and technical infrastructure.

The next test competition (21st Open Italian Hot Air Balloon Championship) will take place from 8 to 13 July at Mondovi.
