The 2009 Plenary meeting of the FAI Amateur Built and Experimental Aircraft Commission was held on 6th April at the Graf Zeppelin Museum in Friedrichshafen, Germany.
The subjects under discussion included: electrically and solar powered aeroplanes, preparations for the World Air Games in Turin, Italy starting on 6th June and CIACA awards for 2009. Pierluigi DURANTI (ITA) was returned as CIACA President for 2009/10.
CIACA will be present at the World Air Games in three events; Fly in and Workmanship - a display of world class restored aircraft, World record attempts - in particular in the Electric and Solar classes, and Public Construction - of two aeroplanes during the week of the Games. The 2009 Phoenix Diploma was awarded to Andrea Rossetto for his outstanding restoration of I-NCOM, an Aermacchi MB308 which was bult in 1948. It served as a camera ship for Industria Cortometraggi Milano (hence the registration) until 1957, at which time it was sold and moved to Germany. It returned to Italy in 2005 and underwent extensive restoration during the winter of 2006/7. It is now based in Padova, Italy.
