FAI recently hosted a Summer Party to make new connections and strengthen existing bonds with other sports federations based in Lausanne, personalities from the sports world and beyond, as well as companies working with FAI.
The party proved to be a great success. A large number of guests were welcomed by the FAI staff and Executive Board.
The event took place at the FAI Head Office at the Maison du Sport International in Lausanne, Switzerland, which also houses the headquarters of around thirty international sports federations and organisations and some twenty companies active in the field of sport. All were invited to the party.
A guided tour of the newly-redecorated Head Office was organised to allow guests to get to know the FAI and its activities, which are now illustrated by large posters of air sports all along the glass walls of the premises. New boards also narrate the history of aviation in pictures and texts, through its most illustrious and memorable records, from Charles Lindbergh’s flight across the Atlantic and the Piccard family’s records, to Yuri Gagarin’s and Neil Armstrong’s space odysseys and Felix Baumgartner’s jump from the edge of space.
The party was also the opportunity to celebrate and publicise the recent award to Dubai of the FAI’s flagship event, the FAI World Air Games, set to take place in December 2015.
Festivities included a fun paper plane contest with prizes generously provided by Realfly Indoor Skydiving, Les Ailes du Léman and the Air14 Airshow. A chance for the winners to get a taste of air sports !
FAI wishes to thank all the participants for attending the party and the providers of the prizes for their support.
