The latest edition of the FAI Annual Report, which paints a good picture of FAI activities throughout 2016, is now available. In it you will find news on key Conference, our partners and sponsors, and more.
Last year was a busy one, not least in record-setting. Since being founded in 1905 the FAI has ratified more than 18,000 world records, and 2016 saw one that truly caught the imagination of people around the world.
In an astonishing and ground-breaking adventure, Bertrand Piccard and André Borschberg completed the first solar-powered round the world flight in 17 legs. Many more world records were set throughout 2016, in all our disciplines.
You will also find news on the rise of drones – the FAI is embracing this new aerial discipline as it booms around the world.
And we feature our inaugural FAI-Breitling Pilot of the Year. Russia’s Fedor Konyukhov beat the world record for a solo flight around the world in a balloon.
