Winners of the 2014 FAI Awards and FAI-Breitling Award Announced

The FAI has announced the winners of the 2014 FAI Awards and FAI-Breitling Award, celebrating the outstanding dedication and contribution to air sports.Ryan-CampbellAerobatics pilot Aude Lemordant,

The ceremony took place last night in Pattaya, Thailand, as part of the 108th FAI General Conference which is held today and tomorrow, and hosted by the Royal Aeronautic Sports Association of Thailand (RASAT).

For the first time, live streaming allowed people from all around the world to be in the heart of the event. Judging from the amount of views and comments, this new feature was a complete success. For those who missed it, the replay of the whole ceremony can be watched on the FAI Youtube Channel.

FAI World Glider Aerobatic Championships

2014 FAI World Glider Aerobatics ChpsFrom 22nd July to 2nd August, Torun (Poland) became an air arena for the world’s best aerobatic glider pilots. 68 of them from 14 countries competed over Pomerania Airfield in the FAI World Glider Aerobatics Championships both in Advanced and Unlimited class.

Glider Aerobatics, Parachuting Canopy Piloting and Paramotors at The World Games 2017

The FAI is pleased to announce that Glider Aerobatics, Parachuting Canopy Piloting and Paramotors have been selected by the IWGA (International World Games Association) for The World Games 2017 in Wroclaw, Poland. All three will be grouped as disciplines under the Air Sports banner.

Main decisions taken at the FAI Aerobatics Commission 2013 Annual Meeting

logo civa 01 cmyk mThe 2013 Annual Meeting of the FAI Aerobatics Commission (CIVA) was held on 8 and 9 November 2013 in Tallinn, Estonia.

During the meeting, FAI President John Grubbström presented Mike Heuer from USA with the Companion of Honour pin and diploma, and Manfred Echter from Germany, Pekka Havbrandt from Sweden and Philippe Küchler from Switzerland with the FAI Air Sport Medal (see pictures below).

FAI Secretary General Badan to step down from his position - Search for his replacement underway

Jean-Marc_BadanThe FAI has announced that Jean-Marc Badan is to step down as FAI Secretary General, effective 30 November 2013. The FAI Executive Board has created a high priority working group to search for his replacement. Candidates are invited to submit their written application and CV by Wednesday 25 September 2013 (12.00 CET) at the latest by e-mail to sec.gen@fai.org.

It is meant to be a reference book for all those who are interested in air sports events and the FAI.

It includes an overview of each air sport, lists of competition results, awards and records, photographs and a lot of other useful information.
