Aresti System: new catalogues available

Main decisions taken at the FAI Aerobatics Commission 2012 Annual Meeting

logo civa 01 cmyk mThe 2012 Annual Meeting of the FAI Aerobatics Commission (CIVA) was held on 3 and 4 November 2012 in Lausanne, Switzerland.

The replica of the Aresti Cup created by the Royal Aero Club of Spain was shown during the meeting and then taken by Russian Delegate Elina Klimovitch to give to Mikhail Mamistov, the winner of the 18th FAI European Aerobatic Championships. It will be taken to the USA in 2013 for the 27th FAI World Aerobatic Championships.

During the meeting, Vladimir Machula from Czech Republic was presented with the FAI Air Sport Medal by Mike Heuer.

CIVA Agenda Packages Available

The annual plenary meeting of CIVA will be held at the Hotel Mirabeau in Lausanne, Switzerland on 3-4 November 2012.  An "informal discussion" will be held on the day prior to the meeting, also at the Mirabeau, to discuss controversial issues in an informal setting.

Mikhail Mamistov Wins EAC

Mikhail Mamistov of Russia has captured the title of European Aerobatic Champion in Unlimited Power at the European Aerobatic Championships just concluded in Dubnica nad Vahom, Slovakia.  The Championships' classical programmes concluded on Friday, the 7th of September, with the Final Freestyle flown on Saturday, 8 September.

World Glider Aerobatic Championships Close in Slovakia

The 15th FAI World Glider Aerobatic Championships (Unlimited Category) and the 3rd FAI World Advanced Glider Aerobatic Championships have come to a close in Dubnica nad Váhom, Slovakia on Saturday, August 18th, 2012.

The new FAI World Glider Aerobatic Champion (Unlimited) is Maciej Pospieszynski (below) of Poland flying a Swift S-1. Ferenc Toth of Hungary was in second place, also in a Swift. Third was Markus Feyerabend of Germany in a Swift as well.

Russian Pilot Wins WAAC and France Wins Team Medals

The 10th FAI World Advanced Aerobatic Championships came to a finish with all flight programmes safely completed under the direction of Contest Director Pavol Kavka. Overseeing the judging was Chief Judge John Gaillard of South Africa.

World Advanced Championships Underway

FAI Announces Awards

This past week, the FAI head office in Lausanne, Switzerland announced the recipients of major FAI awards for 2011. These prestigious medals and diplomas will be presented at the FAI General Conference on Thursday, 18 October 2012, at the Topkapi Palace Hotel, Antalya, Turkey.  Three members of CIVA's international aerobatics community were honored.

CIVA President's Council Created

Today, CIVA President Mike Heuer created a new and informal “CIVA President’s Council” to advise the CIVA Bureau and other bodies on appropriate issues and problems.

The Council will consist of CIVA President of Honour James Black (United Kingdom) andRobert Chomono CIVA Vice Presidents of Honour Karl Berger (Austria), Alan Cassidy (United Kingdom), Bob Chomono (France), Jiri Kobrle (Czech Republic), and Osmo Jalovaara (Finland).  Bob Chomono is shown left.

Their combined years of experience in aerobatics number in the hundreds. They have been involved in all aspects of aerobatics – competition flying, judging, rules-making, and contest organization. All served at one time as Delegate of their country to CIVA.

The Bureau deals with many difficult and complex problems throughout the year and their counsel would be valuable the Officers of CIVA and the sport of aerobatics.
