2013 was a very active year for paragliding accuracy in Asia. In addition to numerous FAI Cat 2 sanctioned events, towards the end of 2013 two significant test competitions were organized: the first for 2nd FAI Asian Paragliding Accuracy Championship in Malaysia and the second, for the air sports events within the Asian Beach Games.

19th FAI European Hang gliding Class 1 canceled

2014 Plenary: venue and deadlines

The next annual Plenary meeting of the FAI Hang Gliding & Paragliding Commission (CIVL) will be held

from 19 to 23 February 2014 in Bali, Indonesia.

The deadline for NACs’ proposal to the Plenary is December 22nd, 2013. Please send them to CIVL President, Agust Gudmundsson.

New PG Competition Class definition and requirements

Since the 2013 Plenary, the CIVL Paragliding Committee worked hard to implement the Plenary decision on the new CIVL EN Competition Class for paragliders and define realistic requirements. By now our work has progressed to a stage where we feel the definition is sound and complete. But before presenting it to the CIVL delegates to vote on it, we are now seeking feedback from anybody who cares outside of CIVL.

6 Category 1 Events will be organised in 2016. No bid has been received so far although the deadline for them was October 22. This is only half surprising as the deadline used to be much later, 2 months before the Plenary i.s.o. 4 now, as implemented by the 2013 Plenary. CIVL obviously did not communicate enought on this change. Apologies...
