The 20th FAI World Hang Gliding Class 2 Championship goes on from 24 July till 6 August 2017 at Aspres-sur-Buëch in the Hautes-Alpes. After four valid tasks, the world-renowned Austrian hang glider pilot Manfred Ruhmer, is dominating the competition. Class 2 world champion since 2002, he is 649 points ahead of his nearest rival, fellow Austrian Franz Pacheiner, and 674 points ahead of local French pilot, Jacques Bott. No task was set yesterday due to the strong south/southwest winds (55 to 55kph at 2000m altitude). The winners of the
This evening 21 gas balloons from 13 countries launched from Gruyères airfield (Switzerland) that sits below the famous chateau for the 61st Coupe Aéronautique Gordon Bennett Race. Over the next few days the teams will aim to fly as far as possible, measured in a straight line from the launch field to the landing site. Meteorological experts are forecasting that the balloons will follow a north-eastern route.
Ferenc Toth (HUN) has won the Glider Aerobatics competition at The World Games following Saturday night’s spectacular Freestyle competition programme.
Poland’s Wojciech Bogdal has won the Paramotoring competition at The World Games. After flying 9 tasks over three days he ended with a convincing win, 8 points ahead of Thailand’s Kittiphop Phrommat in second.
It was a perfect day of flying at the Air Sports competitions at The World Games in Wroclaw, Poland, on Saturday 22 July, with all three air sports completing two full competition sessions.

The World Games 2017 opened in spectacular style in the city of Wroclaw, Poland on Thursday night, 20 July 2017, with an opening ceremony of light, sound and music in front of 35,000 people.
Sixty-six international air sports athletes will compete in three different air sports at the World Games in Poland. Parachuting Canopy Piloting, Glider Aerobatics and Paramotoring will all feature over four days from 20-23 July 2017.
