Sports and Disciplines Selected for the FAI World Air Games Dubai 2015 Revealed

The FAI has today announced the list of the 11 sports and 24 disciplines selected for the FAI World Air Games Dubai 2015. More than 1000 athletes, crews and officials will be involved in the multi air sports event. It will be the biggest FAI World Air Games ever organised.

F2C Urgent Technical Notice

To All F2C Fliers

As you all know, new rules to control noise in F2C were introduced in January of this year. One of the principles of these new rules is that initially only the venturi needs to be changed on the engines, however the rules did not make clear what to do about the supplementary fuel jet fitted on most engines.

This issue has been discussed with Rob Fitzgerald, the F2C Working Group Chairman and Kevin Dodd the CIAM Technical Secretary and the following clarification has been agreed.

CIAM Flyer (6-2014) - Creating Aeromodelling Exhibitions

Whenever aeromodellers appear in public, they encounter an appreciative audience. Air shows outdoors, in a stadium or an indoor arena, are among the most important communication instruments. While championships are more likely to be of interest to insiders, the variety presented at an air show can inspire a broader audience. During the colder seasons, during extended periods of strong winds, rain or snow, exhibitions of model aircraft in large indoor spaces will always draw crowds.

Executive Board and Liaison Officers in Dubai to Discuss the FAI World Air Games

FAI officials gathered in Dubai this week to get to know the members of the Organising Committee, the host city and the competition venues of the FAI World Air Games Dubai 2015. A series of meetings were held where the Executive Board and the FAI World Air Games Experts from the Sports Commissions discussed the key issues pertinent to FAI’s flagship event.

Winners of the 2014 FAI Awards and FAI-Breitling Award Announced

The FAI has announced the winners of the 2014 FAI Awards and FAI-Breitling Award, celebrating the outstanding dedication and contribution to air sports.Aerobatics pilot Aude Lemordant,
Breitling Youngster Award recipient Ryan Campbell and Dr. John Grubbström

The ceremony took place last night in Pattaya, Thailand, as part of the 108th FAI General Conference which is held today and tomorrow, and hosted by the Royal Aeronautic Sports Association of Thailand (RASAT).

For the first time, live streaming allowed people from all around the world to be in the heart of the event. Judging from the amount of views and comments, this new feature was a complete success. For those who missed it, the replay of the whole ceremony can be watched on the FAI Youtube Channel.
