The FAI has announced the winners of the 2014 FAI Awards and FAI-Breitling Award, celebrating the outstanding dedication and contribution to air sports. The ceremony took place last night in Pattaya, Thailand, as part of the 108th FAI General Conference which is held today and tomorrow, and hosted by the Royal Aeronautic Sports Association of Thailand (RASAT). For the first time, live streaming allowed people from all around the world to be in the heart of the event. Judging from the amount of views and comments, this new feature was a complete success. The 108th FAI General Conference takes place in Pattaya, Thailand (UTC+7), on Friday 17 and Saturday 18 October 2014.
On 29 September 2014, the German Aeroclub (Deutscher Aero-Club - DAeC), the German Aeromodelling Association (Deutscher Modellflieger-Verband - DMFV) met with the FAI for an in-depth discussion in Lausanne. The objective of the meeting was to bring out common interests in aeromodelling at international level. It was agreed to continue developing the areas of constructive collaboration that had already been identified.
FAI recently hosted a Summer Party to make new connections and strengthen existing bonds with other sports federations based in Lausanne, personalities from the sports world and beyond, as well as companies working with FAI.

Just let your creativity flow and make your painting talent shine to compete in the 2015 FAI Young Artists Contest whose theme is “Create a poster for the FAI World Air Games Dubai 2015”.
The FAI has released a new video featuring all air sports activities under the umbrella of the Federation. The 3-minute film succinctly presents the FAI sports and includes footage of FAI international records from Charles Lindbergh to Felix Baumgartner.
FAI President Dr. John Grubbström and FAI Secretary General Susanne Schödel were recently invited to meet International Olympic Committee President Thomas Bach (pictured in middle) at the IOC headquarters in Lausanne, Switzerland, to discuss current developments in air sports, their place in the Olympic movement and FAI's involvement in the "Olympic Agenda 2020".
The FAI announced today that the 2015 edition of the FAI World Air Games has been awarded to the United Arab Emirates and will be held in Dubai. This multi-discipline event will be organised by the Emirates Aerosports Federation and will take place over a period of 12 days in December 2015. It is the only world competition that brings together the various different air sports.
Youngsters from China, Japan, Mongolia, Nepal, Russia, Turkey, Ukraine and USA are among the winners of the 2014 FAI Young Artists Contest, which every year awards FAI Medals and Diplomas to artists in three age categories from 6 to 17 years old.
It is with deep regret that the FAI announces the death of Dr. Hanspeter Hirzel, FAI President from 1992 to 1994. He passed away peacefully in Switzerland on 2 April at the age of 76 years. His presence will be missed by all who knew him. He will be remembered for his kindness, generosity and his dedication to the FAI, air sports and aviation in general to which he contributed greatly throughout his life.Latest News
