The 106th session of the annual FAI General Conference concluded on Saturday in Antalya, Turkey. More than 130 Participants coming from 50 FAI Member Countries attended the event that took place from 18 to 20 October 2012. Ten awardees joined together in Antalya to be presented on stage with their prestigious FAI medals and diplomas by FAI President John Grubbström. During the ceremony, the winner of the prize of the Prince Alvaro de Orleans Borbon Grant was revealed to be Todd Reichert for the "Atlas" human-powered helicoter project. Two new awards were also announced by Breitling, the official partner of the FAI:

The FAI Gold Air Medal is the one of the two most prestigious FAI Awards together with the Gold Space Medal. It is reserved for those who have contributed greatly to the development of aeronautics by their activities, work, achievements, initiative or devotion to the cause of Aviation. Annick is the first point of contact with the ASCs (Air Sports Commissions) for administrative matters. She deals with the administration of ASCs meetings as well as logistics and the publication of documents. Furthermore, she assists the FAI Senior Sports Manager Rob Hughes with his tasks and works in coordination with Secretary General Jean-Marc Badan and FAI Event Organisers. The Fédération Aéronautique Internationale (FAI), the World Air Sports Federation, has unveiled today the signing of a long term partnership with the prestigious Swiss watch company Breitling. Breitling, a renowned brand whose headquarters are in Grenchen, Switzerland, will become the first ever Global Partner of the FAI and will carry the status of the Official Watch of the federation. Mr Sergi is the President of SINERGI Ltd, a management consultancy firm based in Switzerland and active in the sports industry.

The FAI has announced today the creation of FAI Air Sports Marketing and Events SA (FAME), a shareholder company based in Switzerland, with the aim of promoting air sports and creating economic value for FAI and its events by actively exploring the sports market and developing new and more attractive events.
