FAI Amateur-Built Aircraft Commission 2016 Annual Meeting – Main Decisions and Discussions

logo ciaca_01_cmyk-ptThe 2016 Annual Meeting of the FAI Amateur-Built Aircraft Commission (CIACA) was held on 21 May 2016 at the Maison du Sport International in Lausanne, Switzerland.

Please find below the main decisions and discussions during the meeting:

 

 

Discussions

  • The Delegates discussed about the development and adjustment of the rules for the Solar Impulse Round the World attempt.
  • The request from CIACA for the new Sporting Code Section 14 with Class Letter “X” has been submitted to CASI on September 11, 2015 an has been accepted at the FAI Annual General Meeting in Rotterdam. 
  • Having achieved this step, the Commission decided to adopt new competition formats, such as 
    • Precision Flight and -Landing Competitions
    • Ecology Competition with all Power Sources, mainly electric
    • Speed records and racings in future as well.
  • The already historically existing of National Competition at the Fly-Ins will be further reviewed and elaborated with the target to lift them up to an International Scoring.
  • The Commission will investigate into the creation of a new award.
  • The Delegates discussed to hold the AGM again on the Sunday after the Aero Friedrichshafen again or possibly during the event.

The Phoenix Diploma
awarded to Philip COZENS (GBR) – which has been submitted by the Royal Aero Club of the United Kingdom

Phoenix Group Diploma
awarded to David & Rick BREMNER (GBR) and Theo WILLFORD (GBR) – which has been submitted by the Royal Aero Club of the United Kingdom

Next Meeting

The next Annual Meeting of the FAI Amateur-Built Aircraft Commission is planned for Sunday, 09 April 2017 in Friedrichshafen (GER).
